We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to lead and deliver high-quality environmental planning work across a varied portfolio of development, infrastructure, and land-use projects. This role will involve providing strategic advice, coordinating environmental assessments, and supporting projects from early feasibility through to approvals, construction, and post-approval monitoring. You will work closely with planners, engineers, technical specialists, clients, consultants, regulators, and community stakeholders to ensure environmental risks and opportunities are identified and managed effectively.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing environmental impact assessments, planning reports, approval documentation, environmental management plans, and technical briefs. You will coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, manage environmental studies and specialist inputs, interpret relevant legislation and policy, and provide clear recommendations to support informed decision-making. The role will also involve overseeing project schedules, budgets, quality assurance, procurement, and consultant performance, while contributing to stakeholder engagement, consultation activities, and responses to regulatory requirements. You will be expected to mentor less experienced staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of environmental planning processes and tools.
To be successful, you will have substantial experience in environmental planning, impact assessment, or a related discipline, together with a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, planning, natural resource management, or a similar field. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, planning frameworks, approval pathways, and contemporary sustainability principles is essential. You will bring excellent analytical, technical writing, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in complex project environments. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, engaging with government agencies and communities, and managing consultants will be highly regarded. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to professional integrity, environmental stewardship, and high-quality service are essential.
